About: Dirty Linen Night was founded by the artists at one small Royal Street gallery in 2001, as a tongue-in-cheek way to invite visitors to an Art Party during the slowest month of the year. Since then, DLN has taken place anually, a week after its inspiration, Julia Street's "White Linen Night" (a not-to-be-missed Art Event in The Arts District on the First Saturday of every August.)
Mission: To feature the unique Artist-run Galleries, the shops and other businesses of the Royal Street Artist's District, to and bring attention to the uniqueness of this community, which is all within walking distance in one of the most Historic neighborhoods in the country.
Galleries and Shops in the Artist's District produce all manner of art, from original oils, water colors, to sculpture, glass, prints and mixed media. The street abounds with unique shops that carry clothing, jewelry, home accessories, perfume, decorative arts, floral and topiary crafts, antiques, hats, wigs and much more.
There are also coffee shops, restaurants, a post office, museums, and lovely hotels on this stretch of Royal Street.

The W French Quarter will feature a new series of large-scale paintings by local emerging artist Chris Kaiser. The new series “Hotter than July, Notes for a Greener New Orleans” is inspired by the unusual combination of Sesame Street, local music and greening New Orleans to spread the message that sustainability is a shared effort.
FREE to the public and benefiting Tipitina’s Foundation ($5 suggested donation,) the event runs Saturday, August 8th from 8-10 p.m. at the W French Quarter Hotel at 316 Chartres Street. See great art, enjoy tasty treats from BACCO and complimentary VeeV Açaí Spirit eco-friendly cocktails, you may even hear a surprise…
“I believe it’s important to utilize our passions to create positive change in the world,” Kaiser said. “New Orleans music is the reason I’m part of this community. I want that music to continue and hope this show communicates the importance of working together to sustain the culture of New Orleans.”
