Don't miss the YLC Streetcar Soiree - a one-night only opportunity to bid on and purchase A Streetcar Named Inspire memorabilia. From custom painted garden-sized streetcar sculptures to a selection of streetcars currently displayed on the streets of New Orleans, it's all up for auction to commemorate this special community project. Join us for
an exciting live auction with Rob Nelson from WWL-TV, entertainment by Kermit Ruffins, and complimentary martinis from Absolut Vodka.

Patron Party: (7:00 - 8:00) Exclusive Preview Party, special gift from Absolut Vodka and $100 live auction bid credit.

UPDATE: Streetcar Soiree (Public Art) Fundraiser!

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for the Streetcar Soiree: Saturday, May 16, 2009!

General admission tickets are $50 per YLC member ($60 non-member) and include food, festive drinks, entertainment by Kermit Ruffins and a chance to get your own little piece of Streetcar history by bidding on a multitude of streetcar items, including garden-sized and full-sized streetcar sculptures!

NEW! Plan to attend the Patron Pre-Screening Party before the Soiree on May 16th at 7:00 for $125 (price includes admission to Patron Party & Soiree)!

Art and Wednesdays at the Square

YLC Wednesday at the Square concert series will host an Artist Village. The 12-week series will again be held in Lafayette Square across from Gallier Hall. Event runs April 1 to June 18, 2009.For a flat-rate price of ninety dollars ($90) per week, or discounted one-thousand dollars ($1,000) for twelve weeks, you can display your work, conduct live demonstrations, and/or sell pieces to our audience of up to 6,000 people every week. You will receive space with electricity (as available), 1-6’ table, and 2 chairs. We will provide a banner for the village, but not individual booths. You may bring a white 10’x10’ pop-up tent, decorate your booth, provide display hardware for your artwork, bring tabletop signage and promotional materials, and staff your booth. Space is assigned in order of applications received.

A Streetcar Named Inspire Upcoming Benefit

Thanks to the Young Leadership Council , the streets of New Orleans are speckled with 80 streetcar sculptures painted by local artists and sponsored by area businesses. The motivation behind The Streetcar Named Inspire project was to display tangible and highly visible symbols of New Orleans' recovery.
The project has recently set a date for its auction for Saturday, May 16. Tickets are $60 per person and include food, drinks, entertainment by Kermit Ruffins and a chance to bid on a multitude of streetcar items, including garden-sized and full-sized streetcar sculptures.
